There are a number of elements to Dr. MacLean's political philosophy:
• Commitment to Participatory Democracy.
• Commitment to hearing all voices and stakeholders on all issues.
• Commitment to principles of Social Justice, equality, and anti-poverty.
• Commitment to non-racist , non-sexist, non ableist, non-hetero-sexist dialogue and politics.
• Has a keen interest in social, cultural, economic development issues and the Official Community Planning Process.
• Has a keen interest in issues of violence against women, and hate crimes.
• Other than the political interests above, Dr. MacLean has no specific agenda. Instead, he is a team player who prefers to move things forward respectfully and with a view to productive task completion.
